How to use Instagram’s new Captions sticker for Stories?

The wildly popular photo-sharing app with over a billion users ‘Instagram’ is a free social media platform for sharing photos and videos. As you all know,  Instagram has become a popular way to connect with brands, celebrities, thought leaders, friends, family, and more. It is available for download on Apple’s iPhone, iPad, and other iOS devices through the App Store and Android devices through Google Play.

From short-form videos to live streaming so many features are there. And one feature is Instagram Stories. It allows users to share moments from their day that disappear after 24 hours. Instagram Stories includes the ability to incorporate augmented reality-based face filters and stickers and add text, drawings, emojis, links, and geotags directly to the photo or video.

Making more interesting Instagram has officially launched its new captions sticker in Instagram Stories.

Captions have been already available on IGTV and the Threads app, and Instagram said it’s adding them to Stories and Reels to make them more efficient and inclusive to watch.

This feature is also helpful for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, are not native English speakers, or just generally watch videos without sound.

How to use Instagram’s new Captions sticker for Stories?

  • Once you’ve recorded your video you can tap on the captions sticker
  • And it will auto-transcribe the speech in the video.
  • Instagram lets you choose among the different fonts available, and also changes the color for captions.
  • There’s also an option to edit words in captions but not fully accurate.

At present, there is no option to highlight the text for better visual contrast. but users can use the Draw tool or a sticker behind the text.

Alternate way:

You can set up automatic video captions using the settings toggle. Go to the three dot menu after that search for story settingsand then scroll down to Accessibility. And you will find an option to turn on Auto-Generated Captions.

Limitation: The new Captions sticker will only be available in English and in English-speaking countries.

The captions sticker for Stories is now available in the latest version of the app.
