Google Home App Is Getting 18 Latest Features For Routines

Google rolled out a new update for its Home app, by which the brand is adding up 18 latest starters and actions for routines as per the user’s convenience. Also, the users, without needing to be enrolled in the Preview Program, can experience the upgraded changes. 

The brand is providing a variety of new home automation capabilities to the users to make their daily lives more smart and comfy with these new starters and actions, all available in the automation tab on the Google Home app. The new capabilities can make the user’s daily routine more seamless and intelligent. 

What’s New In Google Home App

  • Light Effects – 
    • Pulse: It offers visual feedback. While the doorbell is pressed down, I pulse my bedroom light. 
    • Wake/Sleep: This helps when the users dismiss their alarm, so in one hour, slowly, the lights wake up. 
    • Color Loop: When the users say “Party Time,” the Color Loop lights automatically turn on for up to 30 mins. 
  • Open Or Close Device: This facility helps in opening or closing the windows, doors, or blinds that breeze with the action. At 7 am, open the blinds, whereas at 10 pm, close the blinds. 
  • Dock Device: With this facility, the users can set an activity to dock a device, such as vacuums, mops, or mowers. At 5 p.m., dock the vacuum cleaner. 
  • Set Humidity: Depending on the temperature, users can set the humidity in their home. These actions help the users in improving air quality. 
  • Pause/Unpaused Device: This helps the users pause or unpause their devices like TVs, music players, video games, and many more. Also, they can control appliances like vacuums, sprinklers, dishwashers, and more. 
  • Timer: It allows the users to start, pause, resume, or cancel the timers. 
  • Volume Mute: The users can mute or unmute devices, for instance, their smartphones, music players, and more, as per their convenience. 
  • Reboot Device: The user’s SI, similar to routers, game consoles, etc., can quickly reboot devices. This will help in enhancing the performance, plus fix all the known issues and bugs. 
  • Run Software Update: Run software update helps the user’s devices by improving security and performance. The users also can set a schedule for software updates. 
  • Users can set a timer for 30 minutes to prepare dinner. 
  • As per convenience, pause the timer when they need to check on the food. 
  • Also, they can resume the timer after checking on the food. 
  • They can cancel the timer if they need to go outside the house. 

The users on the starter front will have the ability to use the following signals from various smart home devices, sensors which include; temperature, humidity, contact, and even electric cars as triggers; 

  • Open/Close: It turns off the thermostat while the window is open. 
  • Device Is Plugged In: If the user’s EV charges, it automatically starts playing music or downloading updates. 
  • Temperature: If the temperature inside rises above 80 degrees, it helps open the window and turn on the fan. 
  • Volume Is Muted: While the users mute their music, it helps automatically turn off the speakers. 
  • Device Is Docked/Undocked: This helps in commonly found on mops and vacuums or even mowers. 
  • Lock Is Jammed: If the user’s door’s lock gets jammed, in that scenario, broadcast to the home that the lock is jammed and pulse on the light. 
  • Humidity Percentage: If the humidity drops below 40%, it automatically turns on the humidifier. 
  • Occupancy Sensing: This helps when someone is detected in a particular zone or room full of darkness. It turns on the light automatically. 
  • Device Is Paused: When the users pause their TV show, it can help turn on the fireplace or automatically dim the lights.
