How Many Software Updates will Galaxy S24 Ultra Get?

Major OS Updates and Security Patches Explained: Samsung has always been very consistent in offering software updates to its Galaxy devices, while the brand manufactures a lot of devices every year. In contrast, this highly-popular Korean brand has consistently stuck to offering the 4-year OS update commitment, but as Google announced to offer the longest software support of 7 years for its latest Pixel 8 series, Samsung too joined the trend and has made it official that its newest flagship Galaxy S24 lineup will receive a 7-year OS update commitment, including the Galaxy S24 Ultra

Samsung has significantly joined the list by offering the best Android OS update commitment of about 7 years for its latest S24 lineup after Google. With that, Samsung is trying to be a step ahead in the smartphone industry; as of now, no one can match this 7-year OS update commitment, while Google is the only company to match it.

Samsung has already clarified that its latest Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is committed to receiving 7 major OS updates with 7 years of security patch updates, respectively. Although the device launched with Android 14-based One UI 6.1 out of the box, interestingly, the device will receive its 7 major OS updates until Android 21, while the device will receive similar 7 years of security patch updates until 2031, respectively.

In contrast, as of now, it’s only been confirmed that the latest Galaxy S24 series is committed to 7 years of updates, while the previous flagships and other mid-range devices are only eligible for 4 major OS updates and 5 years of security patches.
