Galaxy S20 Gets More Secure With September 2023 Update

Samsung is rolling out the September 2023 update for unlocked models of the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus, and Galaxy S20 Ultra smartphones in the US. This update has already been rolled out in Europe.

The September 2023 security update for unlocked Samsung Galaxy S20 variants in the US can be identified via firmware version G98*U1UES7HWI1. The installation package size of this update is 270.41 MB. Locked variant models may soon get this update in the coming days or weeks.

According to Samsung, the September 2023 security patch fixes over 60 issues related to Samsung Members, Internet, Galaxy Store, and others to provide a smooth and bug-free experience. Furthermore, it enhances the system security, stability, and performance of the device to provide users with a seamless experience.

Morrow, the main purpose of the update is to enhance the system security of the device by incorporating the latest Android security measures. Additionally, the firmware addresses various bugs and stability optimizations, improving the overall user experience.

How To Update

If you have a Galaxy S20 5G and live in the US, you can now check for the new update. You can do this by going to Settings, scrolling down, tapping on Software Update, and then tapping on Download and Install. Alternatively, you can wait for the OTA update, as it is slowly rolling out to all units.

Galaxy S20 Android 14-based One UI 6.0:

As for Android 14 compatibility, the Galaxy S20 series will not get the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update. Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 with Android 10 in early 2020, and the three major OSes were eligible for support. The phones in the lineup have already received three major updates, such as Android 11 update in late 2020, Android 12 update in late 2021, and Android 13 update in late 2022.
