Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipset launch is near, release date revealed

Samsung stated previously that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ Chipset would be used in the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. According to the latest source, Qualcomm intends to debut its next flagship chipset in May 2022.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ might be an overclocked version of the previous 8 Gen 1, which powers the majority of the 2022 flagships, including the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Tab S8 series. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ will be manufactured by TSMC on its 4nm production node, according to tipster Yogesh Brar.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipsets might power the upcoming Samsung foldables

Due to Samsung Foundry’s terrible yield troubles with the 8 Gen 1, Qualcomm reportedly offered TSMC the contract to produce its future chipset. According to rumors, Samsung’s 4nm yield is just 35%, which is relatively poor when compared to TSMC.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipset, model SM8475, will be utilized in Samsung’s next-generation foldable phones, as well as high-end smartphones from Lenovo, Motorola, OnePlus, and Xiaomi. Because of its better power efficiency, the chipset’s performance may fall even farther behind the Exynos 2200.
