How Many Software Updates Will The OnePlus Open Get?

OnePlus also joins the foldable market with other big brands, including Samsung and Google, by introducing its first foldable device, the OnePlus Open, with a number of hypes all around. Now it’s finally official, and users can have a look at some of the important specs of this new foldable. One of the most prominent specs is its software capabilities. So the question arises: how many Software updates will the OnePlus Open get?

Meanwhile, along with several other essential features and enhancements, it’s very important to know that the device is capable of receiving the OS updates for how many years. The software updates help devices get new beneficial features, enhancements, and security patches in order to keep the device’s UI clean, refreshed, and up-to-date.

OnePlus has launched the Open with Android 13-based OxygenOS 13.2 out of the box. While already testing the OxygenOS 14 in a beta phase on its flagship model, the OnePlus 11, it’s highly expected that the OnePlus Open will get the OxygenOS 14 based on Android 14 update before the end of 2023.

Meanwhile, OnePlus is offering a promise that its latest OnePlus Open foldable smartphone will receive four years of major OS updates and five years of security patch updates, which is on par with the competition except Google, which announced that the Pixel 8 series will be receiving 7 years of updates. So, it’s pretty good for OnePlus, especially on the new form factor.

OnePlus Open Android Updates:

According to OnePlus’ promise, the OnePlus Open comes with OxygenOS 13.2, which is based on Android 13, and it will get four years of major OS updates, which means this foldable device is capable of getting new features and enhancements until Android 17, 2026. Whereas the Open will get the security patch updates until 2027 or whatever Google decides.

Although the company introduced its first foldable smartphone with several impressive features, these include a more durable and crease-free hinge, Dual ProXDR displays on both the main and cover screen, multi-spatial speakers that support Dolby Atmos technology, game-changing multitasking with OxygenOS 13.2, stunning cameras with OIS technology support, 3X optical zoom and 6X In-sensor zoom capability, elegant portraits in low-lights, and 4,805mAh battery power along with 67W fast charging support.
