Realme announces new features of Remote Guard parental control settings in Realme UI

Realme’s early phones used ColorOS, but with the release of Android 10, the brand launched its own ColorOS-based skin called Realme UI. Since its initial release, the company has been improving it by adding new features based on user suggestions. Following this, the brand announced the launch of a new function “Remote Guard”.

If you don’t know, most Android appearances on smartphones offer parental control options. With the help of these settings, parents and guardians can monitor their children/ward.

OPPO introduced an implementation called “Remote Guard” in the ColorOS 6 release. This function is inherited by Realme UI because its foundation is ColorOS after all. However, Realme replaced OPPO and became the first to announce the new feature s of this service on its Chinese community forum.

According to the brand’s post, the Remote Guard application has now been redesigned. Users can now add multiple guardians to their ward and even provide important family information. In addition, the guardian’s contact number can now be set as the SOS contact, so that the ward can easily make calls in an emergency.

Since Remote Guard now supports multiple guardians, the app has a new screen that shows the person in charge of the ward at a given moment. In addition, the guardian can also monitor the use of smartphones in the ward.

They can even access a dashboard with statistics on cell phone usage, just like Googe Digital Wellbeing. Parents and guardians can also restrict smartphone usage inwards by blocking access to apps and games. In addition, the service can also automatically block fraudulent calls and SMS spam. Last but not least, the guardian can even track the whereabouts of the ward through real-time location tracking.

In any case, as we mentioned at the beginning, most Chinese OEMs include parental control settings such as Realme in their Android appearance. But they did not provide them in the global version of their mobile software. Therefore, there are few opportunities to provide the above-mentioned functions in markets outside of China.
