New Settings UI & History Sharing Feature Coming To WhatsApp

WhatsApp is back with two new updates; the first is redesigning the application’s settings interface, and the second is the history-sharing feature within the group. With this redesign, the brand provides users with a refreshed and modern accent. With the settings interface, the profile tab also gets new changes and a fresh look.

The brand has rolled out this newly redesigned app UI with its identification version, 2.23.18.7. The change is developing and rolling out as a beta update, which is available on the Google Play Beta Program.

What’s New?

  • New Settings Interface:

With this new beta update, WhatsApp is remodelling the settings interface along with a profile tab, which offers a more modern and clear view to the users. After upgrading the app with this update, the users will see a new entry point that displays their profile photo, placed at the top of the app, which takes them to the app’s settings.

Now, the settings section is named “You”. In the You tab, the profile photo is placed at the top centre of the interface. Below, three main shortcuts of the most essential options are placed in the sequence: Profile, Privacy, and Contact.

A shortcut for the user’s personal QR code is placed on the profile photo. After all of these, the rest of the options are available. With this new Settings UI, the company offers a more enhanced appearance, which is clear, smarter, modern, and simple to use.

  • History-sharing Feature within the group:

For this new feature, the build number is the 2.23.18.5 version. With this update, WhatsApp is providing the facility of sharing the history for the new group participants. The quality is developing and rolling out in beta and is available on the Google Play Beta Program.

The company named this new feature as “Recent History Sharing”. This feature will automatically share all the chats back up to 24 hours of the group after a new participant joins the group. The noticeable part is this option will only be accessible to the group’s admins. Once this option is turned on, all of the group participants will always be notified, thanks to a dedicated message event.

With this feature, the users will finally be eligible to read conversations shared before someone joins the group.

However, for now, both the features are only available in the beta stage, and it is expected that in upcoming future updates, both of them will be available to all.
