Google Podcasts To Be Shutting Down To Centralize Podcast Listening On YouTube Music

Google Podcasts is a “podcasting directory,” this term refers to podcast listening applications and other services that use Google Podcasts just to find podcasts and authorized playback. Here’s a catch for the Google Podcasts fan community because it is close to saying goodbye. Do not panic, and all the information is given below. Continue reading the article.

Google is planning to shut down the Google Podcasts by early 2024. The reason behind this decision is just to centralize podcast listening on YouTube Music. Also, the brand already began supporting podcasting channels on YouTube in April. Google noticed somewhere how creators and artists really are in favor of Podcasts on YouTube, that’s why the company earlier this year introduced the adeptness to watch and listen to Podcasts on YouTube Music in the US without even any paid membership.

Through the official blog, the brand states that

Looking forward to 2024, we’ll be increasing our investment in the podcast experience on YouTube Music – making it a better overall destination for fans and podcasters alike.”

By this statement, it is clear that the brand is closing the Google Podcasts facility very soon and stretching the podcasts area in YouTube Music to make it an even better overall destination for fans and podcasters, much the same with YouTube-only capabilities on all parts of community, discovery and audio/visual switching. And later in 2024, within the context of this process, the company will be shutting down Google Podcasts.

According to Edison, even 23 percent of weekly podcast users in the US agree with the fact that YouTube is their most frequently used service, whereas only 4% for Google Podcasts. With this new change, the users will get a simple migration tool and the ability to add podcast RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed to their YouTube Music library, which includes shows not currently hosted by YouTube. Apart from this, for the users who choose a particular listening platform, the tools will also offer them an option to download an OPML file of their show subscriptions, which they can upload to an application that holds up their import.

However, the company said that in the upcoming weeks and months, it will gather feedback to make the migration process from Google Podcasts to YouTube Music. Also, when the brand feels that the migration tools are perfectly ready, then it will debut them alongside clear guidelines on how they work, which leads to more ease for the users.

It is pretty obvious that this transition will take time, but surely, this new change will enhance the user’s experience more than ever before. For now, nothing is changing, and fans will continue to have access to YouTube, YouTube Music, and Google Podcasts as well.
