WhatsApp Working On Secret Code Feature For Locked Chats

WhatsApp is gearing up for a new update to enhance the user’s secure experience. With the new update, the company is offering a new feature named secret code for locking the chats. So now, the users don’t have to worry about unauthorized access to their chats. For getting more security options on your chats, check out the article.

WhatsApp’s New Secret Code Feature Update Details

Meta-owned WhatsApp is rolling out its latest beta update with its identification build number, which is v2.23.21.8, so interested ones can easily identify the update through this version number.

However, for now, the update is in the developing stage and only available for some of the lucky beta testers. The users who want to experience this feature can get it through the Google Play Beta Program. Soon, it will be available in future updates to all widely.

How Secret Code Feature Works

WhatsApp is taking another step to provide more security to its users. Now, the company is introducing a new feature for locked chats to permit the users to configure a secret code for a future update of the application. However, the company already hinted about this feature for locked chats a couple of months ago. But now it seems that it actively started working on this privacy feature.

Through this new Secret Code feature, the users will get the ability to set a custom password for their protected chat folder, which is beneficial because it is different from their smartphone’s main password. Also, it offers the users an extra layer of control over their locked conversations. While users set a custom password for their protected chats, it also isolates the privacy of these chats from the overall device security.

Basically, through this feature, if someone gets access to the device password, they will not automatically have access to the protected chats folder until they come to know the secret code.

As mentioned above, the feature has yet to be ready and is in its developing stage. But available to some beta testers. As the feature gets ready, WhatsApp will make it available to all.
