Samsung To Offer Seamless Updates For The First Time, With The Galaxy A55 5G the First Phone To Receive It

Samsung is so consistent in offering several features and advancements to its devices, and no doubt it has significantly achieved the best spot in maintaining its attitude towards providing the best software upgrades to its Galaxy phones. With that, Samsung has made an astonishing move with its commitment to offer seamless updates for the first time, beginning with the latest mid-range Galaxy A55 5G

In contrast, Google, in 2016, introduced the capability to the Android manufacturers so that they can provide seamless updates to their respective devices, to which Samsung has certainly refused, but now the brand has significantly changed its decision and has taken an astonishing move to offer seamless updates, with the Galaxy A55 being the first Galaxy model to get the seamless updates.

To those unaware, Google’s seamless updates feature allows Android phones to install the latest software updates in the form of background activity, which is just opposite to the local traditional method of software update, which involves Android phones rebooting during the software installation. Meanwhile, the seamless updates offer Android devices a smooth update cycle each time.

Although seamless updates have certain advantages, they also eliminate the inconvenience that comes with traditional update methods and enhance the safety of the device by offering a backup space that can be used by the phone to revert itself when required. However, the seamless updates need much more storage space as compared to the local traditional methods, and that could be the most prominent reason why Samsung refused to adopt the feature earlier.

On the flip side, with the new seamless update capability while updating the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G to the latest update, the software update process was happening in two different phases. The first phase included downloading and installing, while the other one was for verification. Unlike the old traditional method, which required the phone to reboot so that the latest update could be installed, through the seamless updates feature, the installation process happened in the background, saving much more time as compared to the traditional update process.

Additionally, it’s somewhat weird that Samsung has selected its newly-arrived mid-range Galaxy A55 phone for providing seamless updates instead of choosing its latest premium flagship Galaxy S24 lineup. Also, Samsung hasn’t officially revealed whether the brand could offer the feature to more of its Galaxy models or not.
