Galaxy S24 Ultra Detailed Review: Is This the Ultimate Android Phone?

Galaxy S24 Ultra Detailed Review: It’s been a couple of days since Samsung, the great Korean tech brand, raised the curtain on its highly-awaited and latest Samsung Galaxy S24 series at the first Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event of this year. The latest series comes with several new features and enhancements, most prominently that the newly launched Galaxy devices are AI-powered. Simultaneously, the latest Samsung Galaxy S24 series consists of three devices: the Galaxy S24, S24+, and the higher and more advanced Galaxy S24 Ultra, respectively.

Galaxy S24 Ultra Detailed Review:

Likewise, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which is the most advanced flagship device, has a much more elegant and flat design, battery functionalities with AI capabilities, and more. But the most important question is: should you consider upgrading to the latest Galaxy S24 Ultra or should you stick to the previous S23 Ultra? Here I am presenting a detailed review of Samsung’s newly-arrived flagship, the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Specifications

The latest Galaxy S24 Ultra has arrived with numerous new features and enhancements, from its powerful chipset and camera capabilities to its AI-powered features and flat design. With that, let’s now have a detailed look at what Samsung’s new flagship holds.

Design-

Look wise, the phone looks amazing with stunning titanium frames and a premium glass back finish, which offers a nice premium look to the device. The edges of the phone are flat, with a titanium frame that provides comfortable in-hand ergonomics and feels very light even after weighing over 230 grams (232 grams). Its back panel is made up of metal but can seamlessly prevent finger imprints, which is interesting. Whereas the back panel also consists of a quad camera setup, which is arranged in the same iconic style with an LED flashlight.

On the flip side, the bottom section of the phone consists of a SIM card tray, a microphone, a USB-C charging port, a speaker grill, an S-Pen slot, and an S-Pen, respectively, while the top part includes two noise-canceling microphones. Likewise, there’s nothing on the left side frame, while there’s a volume rocker and power on/off buttons on the right side frame. Overall, the phone comes with a decent design with pointed edges, and it feels quite big in the hand.

Display-

In terms of the display, one of the most essential parts, the Galaxy S24 Ultra features a big 6.8-inch 2X LTPO AMOLED HD+ flat display panel with a 120Hz fast refresh rate and 2600 nits peak brightness. While watching videos, I noticed there are low reflections as compared to the curved display due to the Corning Gorilla Glass Armor protection, which could be slightly disappointing for some users as Samsung has made a weird shift from the curved display to a flat display.

Even though the display is so awesome with such vibrant colors and sharp details and with 2600 nits peak brightness, I noticed that the display was producing excellent colors, so you don’t have to worry about viewing the screen in direct sunlight. As of now, while comparing the display with its predecessor, it’s the S24 Ultra that has impressed a lot in terms of its display quality.

Overall, you will get to experience a bigger screen with an immersive viewing experience due to the 88.5% screen-to-body ratio. An impressive Always-on-Display feature enhances the device.

Performance:

In terms of performance, the smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (made for the Galaxy) chipset, which is based on 4nm process technology. It offers an excellent gaming experience and is perfectly suitable for all gaming enthusiasts. For long-run gaming sessions, Samsung has incorporated a vapor cooling chamber, which significantly helps in proper and even heat dissipation during the gaming sessions.

At the same time, while playing Pubg Mobile, I noticed that I was getting seamless and smooth gameplay with the higher game settings up to 60 fps without even a single frame drop or lagging issues. Similar things happened with other games like COD Mobile. I was able to play the game very smoothly, with the gameplay receiving up to 120 fps at high settings. Overall, the gaming experience was good, with more vibrant visuals and real-time graphics without a single frame drop or lagging issues.

Beside gaming, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is an absolute multitasker, as you can get a smooth multitasking experience from your social media scrolling and app opening to browsing the internet and app switching. So with respect to its performance, we received an Antutu score for the device, which is close to 2M (1922482).

Camera’s Performance:

On paper, the camera capabilities of the latest S24 Ultra succeed, but in experience, it has definitely succeeded its predecessor to some extent as the latest device is incorporated with advanced AI capabilities that make its camera functionalities more enhanced.

Although the camera setup hasn’t changed a bit, During photography sessions, there were some noticeable improvements, like the low-light photography has been improved and the Super HDR has been enhanced. With that now, you will seamlessly be able to take perfect no-grain shots at 30X and even at 100X zooming capability.

The zooming features were working perfectly fine, with several enhancements done within. However, Samsung has certainly removed the Slow-Motion feature from the latest S24 Ultra device, which is slightly disappointing, and in some cases, the pictures were not that nice but were enhanced when taken in a well-lit environment. The phone includes:

  • It has a nice quad camera setup with a 200 MP primary camera with OIS support.
  • A 50MP periscopic telephoto with up to 5x optical zoom.
  • 10MP telephoto lens with up to 3x optical zoom
  • And a 12 MP ultra-wide camera that offers super-steady videos.
  • The front camera includes a 12 MP selfie shooter.

In terms of video recording, you can easily capture videos with 8K@30fps, [email protected], and 1080p@30/60/240fps, respectively, with the rear camera, while with the selfie snapper, you can shoot videos with 4K@60fps and 1080p@30fps.

The Galaxy AI is here: The Real Showstopper.

I feel that Samsung has taken the most advanced and impressive step with the inclusion of the Galaxy AI, which has the most interactive AI-powered capabilities within the latest S24 Ultra. The new Galaxy AI will help unleash the new world of AI capabilities, including your creativity, productivity, and more. It includes various impressive features like Circle to Search, Live Translate, Note Assist, and Photo Assist, respectively. Let’s know all of them in detail.

  • Circle to Search: The latest Galaxy S24 Ultra has received a new and interactive feature from Google, which is Circle to Search. This feature will allow you to open a new way to search for something you are wishing for. While scrolling your favorite social media platform, you can now easily search for something you came across without having to switch to another application. Just take out your S-Pen and draw a circle around something, and you will get similar results from Google. (Instead, you can use your finger to search.)
  • Live Translate: Another feature that I liked is the live translation feature, which allows you to translate texts in no time while you are on your phone. For example, while chatting with my friend who speaks Bengali, soon after she sent me a text, I received a notification that prompted me to translate the text to English. With that, it got automatically translated to English, and at the same time, when I typed my reply in English, the text got automatically translated to Bengali on her end too.
  • Easily Summarize your notes through the Note Assist feature. While typing long content or jotting something down, the new Note Assist feature will help you out. It can make your long story short by summarizing it. At the same time, while writing a lengthy story, I was able to make it in the form of a short summary, which significantly made it short and easy to understand.

Wrapping up, I found the latest Galaxy AI and the most impressive functionality added to the new Galaxy S24 Ultra. Although it’s an interactive beginning, the usefulness and productivity of this feature will totally depend on the users and what Samsung decides in the coming future.

Battery:

With respect to the battery, the new Galaxy S24 Ultra sports a massive 5000mAh battery with 45W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging support. During the long gaming sessions, I was able to get a smooth experience while also getting more than a day on a single charge. But it depends on your usage. If you are engaged in intense gaming sessions, you will be able to get approximately a few hours as the games and continuous browsing can drain your device’s battery faster. At the same time, normal usage can easily get your next day covered as well.

Operating system:

The latest Galaxy S24 Ultra comes with the latest Android 14-based One UI 6.1 firmware version. With that, users will get to experience the next-level user interface with the addition of new features and functionalities. At the same time, the newest Samsung’s One UI 6.1 brings a lot of new enhancements that can help make your Galaxy experience more advanced and a step ahead.

Sensors:

The Galaxy S24 Ultra consists of all the key sensors, including

  • Accelerometer
  • Barometer
  • Fingerprint sensor (in-display)
  • Gyro sensor
  • Geomagnetic sensor
  • Hall sensor
  • Light sensor
  • Proximity sensor, respectively
  • Along with Samsung DeX,
  • Samsung Wireless DeX and
