YouTube will soon let you react with emojis on videos

Today, viewer feedback on YouTube comprises of liking (or disliking) videos and providing text comments. YouTube is currently experimenting with timed responses, which allow you to post emojis at specific points in a video.

This new feature is being tested on the Google site alongside timed comments, which allow users to browse and make comments at particular times. This feature is still an experiment and is not publicly available.

Viewer feedback on YouTube might get more interesting with emoji reactions

As per YouTube, the description of this new emoji reaction feature on videos goes like this:

If you’re watching a video that is part of this experiment, you can react and see crowd reactions by opening the comment section of the video and tapping into the reaction panel.

Just above the timeline in the video window, YouTube will highlight the times other people are responding to. However, all responses will be anonymized, so you won’t be able to know who submitted what.

The reactions that are now being tested, are limited s YouTube said:

We’re testing multiple sets of reactions and will add or remove reactions based on how the experiment goes!

So far, this appears to feature a Face with Tears of Joy, a heart, a Shock(?) Face, a Party Popper/celebration, a question mark, a Light Bulb/idea, and Screaming Cat.

We know community is important to you, so we’re committed to bringing you more features that strengthen the sense of community on YouTube. Have fun with the timed reactions and let us know what you think in the comments.
