Samsung is gearing up for its January 17 Unpacked event, primarily on the Galaxy S24 series. However, a recent leak hints at more than just smartphones. According to Roland Quandt, Samsung plans to refresh its charging adapters for Galaxy devices. The EP-T4510, a 45W Power Adapter, will see a successor, the EP-T4511, maintaining the 45W fast charging support.
Additionally, a new 50W Duo adapter (EP-T5020) with two USB-C ports is on the horizon. While the prices are undisclosed, speculations suggest they may align with existing rates. There’s anticipation that these chargers might be part of promotional bundles during the Galaxy S24 pre-order phase. Notably, Samsung previously launched the 65W Trio Adapter (EP-T6530) in 2021, featuring two USB-C ports and one USB-A port.
These new adapters align with rumours about the Galaxy S24 lineup’s charging speeds. The S24+ and S24 Ultra may maintain the 45W charging, while the vanilla S24 could stick to its 25W speed.
Despite the charging accessory updates, Samsung is unlikely to bundle them with the Galaxy S24 series, which is consistent with its approach since the Galaxy S21 series. The company stopped providing charging bricks (and headphones) with its flagship phones, citing environmental concerns. This move echoed a trend initiated by Apple in 2020, although Samsung had initially mocked Apple for the omission. Eventually, Samsung followed suit, removing its own charging brick and discreetly retracting social media posts that ridiculed Apple.
