Xiaomi Became The Smartphone Leader In Russian Market

Samsung suspended shipments to Russia in March 2022, which is why the South Korean tech giant has suffered a significant loss of market share in Russia. Now, the rumor online surfaced that the company may soon return to the Russian market. 

As per the Russian newspaper Izvestia, Samsung may start to return to the Russian market in October this year. The newspaper also reveals the company will soon start the supply of shipments to the Samsung retailers in Russia and also restart its official Samsung stores in the country. Before suspending shipments to Russia, the company occupied a large market share in terms of smartphones. According to the MTS report, Samsung smartphones had a market share of up to 30% in the fourth quarter of 2021 in Russia. Now, the Samsung market share is not as good in Russia.

Due to the stop supply, Samsung’s market share in the Russian market has dropped to 8.5%. However, some Russian users buy Samsung products via import and other channels, But many Samsung users do not purchase its products due to high prices and no longer warranty. According to Mobile Tele Systems (MTS), Xiaomi and its sub-brand POCO market share accounted for 42% together and got first place in sales in July this year, and Realme got second place in terms of sales with a 17% market share in Russia.
