How Many Software Updates Will Motorola Edge 50 Ultra Get?

If someone owns an Android smartphone, they likely want the phone to last as long as possible, especially when they are paying a hefty price for a flagship model. That’s where software updates come to the rescue, as they significantly keep the phone internally refreshed and safe, resulting in the device’s longer shelf life. In contrast, the brand has launched its latest flagship model, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, with some impressive specifications that significantly caught the attention of the audience.

Meanwhile, if you are wondering whether to purchase the newest Edge 50 Ultra, it’s important to know how many software updates the device can receive.

Software Update Policy

Motorola has evolved a lot with time, emerging as one of the highly-praised Android smartphone brands after some big names like Google, Samsung and more. However, Motorola has always offered a minimum batch of software updates to its models. However, every Android smartphone manufacturer provides software updates to their phones according to their dedicated software update policy. Meanwhile, Motorola’s budget phones usually receive only a single major OS update.

But things slightly changed when Motorola upgraded its software update policy, promising three generations of software updates and four years of security patch updates for its flagship models last year. With that, the brand significantly sticks to its software update commitment and has promised to offer the same treatment for the just-launched Motorola Edge 50 Ultra.

Motorola promised that the newly launched Edge 50 Ultra would receive three generations of software updates and four years of security patch updates. Since the device is launched with Android 14, out of the box, the Edge 50 Ultra will get three generations of software updates until Android 17, while the phone will receive its security patch updates for four years until 2028.
