Google Earth Gets A Redesigned Android App With Project Support

It’s been a while, and in its first major update, Google Earth is launching a redesigned Android App that adds overdue support for Projects while also removing an old feature.

Google Earth v10.35 is now rolling out for Android users and sports a substantial revamp of the application. This latest update consists of adapting Google’s latest look and design, including a rounded search bar, an account switcher through the profile picture, as well as the bottom bar UI that has replaced the side-affixed hamburger menu. With the latest update, you will now notice a pop-up that appears while initially opening the new app, which includes three characteristic features, including Google Drive project Collaboration, Creating Maps, and cross-device sync respectively.

Although the Projects is probably the most prominent and huge addition to the new Google Earth application, the Project feature allows users to create an entirely customized map, which includes texts, pictures, and videos along with the map content. However, Google notifies that, though the Project capability has been there for quite some time now, these can still only be created through a desktop.

Furthermore, another upgrade consists of the facility to share maps through a link or a QR code. Also, it includes a new Measure option placed just below the map, which allows users to quickly evaluate the distance between two different locations on the map.

On the flip side, Google Earth’s Voyager feature, which is significantly missing from the app, previously existed within the main menu but can’t be accessed. Moreover, Google explained Voyager as “a showcase of interactive guided tours, quizzes, and layers that aim to help educate everyone about the world, locations near and far.” In addition, the newest version of Google Earth’s desktop experience moves Voyager to its dedicated page by separating it from the main app.

It’s worth noting that the latest Google Earth app is currently rolling out, and you can easily get it on your Google Play Store
