Android 12 QPR3 Beta 1.1 launched in Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro to patch bugs

Just over two weeks ago, Google released the first beta release of Android 12 Quarterly Platform Release (QPR), giving us our first significant look at the anticipated Pixel Feature Drop. It did, however, introduce a number of concerns on the Pixel 6 series, such as unexpected battery depletion and poor call quality.

Fortunately, the issues have been fixed. Google released a small update today in the form of Android 12 QPR3 Beta 1.1 to remedy the bugs that were present in the original beta preview.

The Android 12 QPR3 Beta 1.1 fixed several bugs that caused excessive battery draining and calling issues

The newest QPR beta’s build number is S3B1.220218.006. However, there is no change in the security patch level, therefore the release date remains March 2022. The whole changelog for Android 12 QPR3 Beta 1.1 is as follows:

  • Fixed some issues that caused excessive battery drain.
  • Improved call quality related to issues like Issue #224716473 that caused a high pitch noise during phone calls on some devices. Although we’re still investigating the root cause of this and similar issues, we’re planning additional improvements for future beta releases.

In addition to the aforementioned issue fixes, the update raises the Google Play services version from 21.48.15 to 22.06.18. Notably, the new update is exclusive to the Google Pixel 6 series.

As a result, other Google Pixel devices that are beta-eligible, such as the Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, and Pixel 5a, will not receive this interim update. Instead, until the next major beta release, these devices will continue to run the Beta 1 build.
