WhatsApp Is Getting Chat Lock Feature: Making Your Intimate Conversations More Private

WhatsApp keeps on releasing new features and improvements to its application to provide a private or secure messaging platform. In this recent development, the company is rolling out a new update that mainly brings the new Chat Lock features to the WhatsApp application.

According to the blog post, Chat Lock on WhatsApp allows you to store conversations in a folder that can only be accessed with your device’s password or biometric fingerprint and protect your most intimate conversations behind one more layer of security. Moreover, it automatically hides the content of that chat in the notifications as well.

Also, the feature will be helpful for those who share their phone with a family member from time to time or in those moments when a special someone needs to hold your phone when a chat comes up.

On the other hand, WhatsApp already had a biometric lock feature, allowing users to block access to others. Meanwhile, Chat Lock goes a step further and will enable you to protect your most intimate conversations even more privately.

As always, the rollout of this feature has just begun. We recommend that you stick to the latest stable build of WhatsApp Messenger. The Play Store will inform you about the availability of the new version as soon as the company expands its availability.

How To Use WhatsApp Chat Lock:

Android smartphone and tablet users can lock a WhatsApp chat by tapping the name of a one-to-one or group and selecting the lock option. To reveal these chats, slowly pull down your inbox and enter your phone password or biometric.

Going forward, the company claims that over the next few months, we’ll be adding more options to Chat Lock, including a lock for companion devices and creating a custom password for your chats so that you can create a password unique from your phones.
