WhatsApp Rolls Out Latest Beta Update For Voice Chat In Communities

WhatsApp is stretching its area with new experiments and updates for users’ convenience. Currently, it is rolling out its new beta update, which is available on Google Play Beta Program. This latest update provides a new facility for voice Chats in communities to enhance the user’s voice conversation experience.

This latest beta update has arrived with its identification build number, which is as 2.23.16.19 firmware version. However, this experiment is developing; hence, it is only available for a few lucky beta testers and will soon be available for all of us.

WhatsApp is offering a new feature for voice chat in groups through this beta update. Now, a new voice waveform icon would be visible in the group chapter, replacing the audio and video call icon on the right side of the Group tile. After tapping this new waveform icon, the voice chat automatically starts, and a dedicated interface will occur. Any group chat members are eligible to join the voice chat at any time and can start speaking.

If nobody joins the voice chat, it will automatically end after 60 minutes. On the other hand, anyone can still start another voice chat at any time. However, it has one noticeable fact: the new voice chat option would only be accessible to eligible groups. And the eligibility criteria might be there should be 32 participants in the group to join a voice chat.

The interesting part is that the voice chat allows you to start the call without even ringing the phone of each group member. It will give a silent push notification to every group member whenever a new voice chat is started, and the group icon will show a tiny thumbnail appearing for a voice chat within the chat list. End-to-end encryptions protect it.
