Google Calendar Is Available For Wear OS-Watches

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Google Calendar Wear OS App was announced at Pixel Watch 2 on October 4.
  • The official app is now available for download for Wear OS-basd smartwatches on Google Play Store.
  • This app lets you view your 30-day schedule and navigate to your meetings with Google Maps.

Google last week made Gmail available for Wear OS and confirmed that the Google Calendar app is rolling out in the coming days. Now, finally, users are getting the ability to download the Calendar app for Wear OS on the Play Store. So, the users will experience the Calendar directly from their wrists. Let’s get started discussing how this new facility will work.

Google is stretching the area of Wear OS by making Calendar available on the original Pixel Watch, which is running on the Wear OS 3.5 version alongside “Agenda.” However, the brand already reported about the existence of this application last November.

The application is actually the “Schedule” view the users get on smartphones. The users have the ability to open events to view precise, detailed information, such as location, notes, notifications, and what Calendar something is saved to. The company also allows the users to adjust whether they are attending. The other options are also available, which include “Open on the phone” and “Delete event” at the bottom.

This time, the company offers background images in the main feed for recognized events, for instance, holidays and birthdays. Google Tasks will also appear with the capability to mark them as complete. Now the Google Calendar will note at the low point how far it “Synced until”. The app allows the users to view their 30-day schedule. They will also get notified and respond to upcoming events and tasks and start navigating to their meetings with Google Maps.

Noticeably, the users are not able to create any events or even tasks because the company did not offer any option to create events or tasks inside the wearable. On the other hand, Google Calendar adds two new Wear OS tiles for “Next event” and “Next tasks,” the latter of which displays two upcoming entities. Tapping on the “More” button opens the full application, which is also not a dedicated view.

However, there is also a “Next event” option with a Calendar complication. In contrast, existing date complications will ask the users whether they want to open Google Calendar or the Agenda application going forward. Interested users who want Calendar can search for it in the wearable Play Store or can remotely install it through the application listing.
