Google Adds A New Button, Allowing Your Friends To Purchase An App For You From The Google Play Store

Google presented several enhancements and updates during its I/O 2024 conference two weeks ago. The company unveiled some new features that are arriving in Chrome, Google Play, and the Android ecosystem. Meanwhile, among all those features, Google announced a new option added to the Play Store that will significantly allow users to ask someone else to pay for an app.

The Google Play Store ecosystem is packed with millions of apps and games. Meanwhile, Google will now allow users to ask someone else to pay for the app they have purchased from the Play Store. This means that users can now invite their friends to buy an app while purchasing an application through the Google Play Store.

Now, ask your friends to pay for an app on your behalf

A new option, Ask someone else to pay, has been added within the Play Store that significantly generates a payment link that can be used to send to someone who is spending on the user’s behalf. The users who tap on the Ask someone else to pay button receive a prompt that says that the person paying for the app on the user’s behalf will mandatorily know the user’s complete email address. At the same time, the payment link has a payment limit of 24 hours, and the person paying has 24 hours to make the payment before the link expires.

Meanwhile, tapping the share payment link will take you directly to the share sheet, where you will be offered members to whom you want to share the link. Moreover, Google stated that this new option within the Google Play Store would be available first to the audience in India; however, the company has yet to say whether this feature would be expanded to the global markets.
