Google Maps is obviously a part of Google Workspace and helps users navigate their world faster and easier than ever. Over 220 countries and territories are mapped, and hundreds of millions of businesses and places are on the map. It offers real-time GPS navigation, traffic, and transit information. And now the company is delivering a new update.

Immersive View For Routes

With the latest update for Google Maps, the company is announcing Immersive View for routes. This is an entirely new way by which the users can easily preview every step of their journey in any scenario, whether they are driving, walking, or cycling. The brand first rolled out this Immersive View for routes in various countries – Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dublin, Florence, Las Vegas, London, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Paris, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, Tokyo, and Venice for both Android and iOS devices.

To try this feature, the users just have to request cycling directions and then tap on the Immersive View preview to see their route in a stunning, multidimensional view from start to finish. The users can also prepare for each turn if they are there with detailed, visual turn-by-turn directions and use the time slider to plan when to head out based on helpful information, such as simulated traffic and weather conditions. In this manner, one can easily avoid riding during rainy weather or heavy traffic.

Immersive View for Places uses AI to fuse billions of Street views and aerial images so the users can know what a restaurant or landmark is like before they go. Also, now the developers can create their own immersive experiences with the debut of Photorealistic 3D Tiles in the Google Maps Platform this week.

Lens In Maps

Now, the users will have an easier way to understand their surroundings with Lens in Maps, for instance, if the users are exiting a subway station and need to orient themselves or if they are scoping out a new neighbourhood and want to find the nearest coffee shop. The lens in Maps, with the help of AI and augmented reality, helps them quickly accommodate themself in any scenario, whether they are navigating a new city or discovering local hidden gems.

For this, the users just have to click on the Lens icon in the search bar and lift their phones to find information about nearby ATMs, hospitals, stores, and many more.

Navigate With a More Detailed Map

Google Maps will soon reflect the real world even more accurately. With the upgraded version, the users will see bright and vibrant colours throughout the map, as a result of which they will see more realistic buildings to help them better intend themself than ever. The company will start rolling out this feature in the upcoming months in 12 countries, which includes the US, Canada, France, Germany, and more.

Improved EV Information

Now the EV drivers on both Android as well iOS will appear with more helpful and detailed charging station information than ever, which includes whether a charger is compatible with their vehicle and whether the available chargers are fast, medium, or slow to help them to find out the charging stations which best meets the users needs. Apart from this, the users are also able to watch when a charger was last used to help the users avoid wasting time heading to a broken charger. The company will start rolling out these updates globally on iOS and Android this week, wherever EV charging station information is available.

Google Maps is introducing all these new features to enhance the user’s experience as per their confidence.
