WhatsApp now lets its users play voice note in the background

WhatsApp is one of the most effective approaches to connect throughout the world, yet iPhone users frequently receive access to new functions before someone with a Pixel 6 or Galaxy S22.

Thankfully, such features always make their way to Android, and a long-awaited worldwide voice note player is almost here with the newest WhatsApp beta version.

WhatsApp introduces a new voice note player feature that will help in multitasking

This feature allows users to listen to their voice notes while reading another chat on their smartphone, with playback continuing in the background (via WABetaInfo). It’s a great way to listen to your mates sum up their weekend plans while responding to a work colleague without missing a second.

When we previously witnessed when the feature was originally in development, as you browse away, a player bar emerges at the top of the app, keeping the voice memo or any other audio file playing in the background.

Communication isn’t free of multitasking, especially on a phone when texting is asynchronous, so it’s encouraging to see WhatsApp finally improve how it handles audio snippets in its app.

Despite debuting in WhatsApp beta 2.22.7.21, this new voice player will be available to just a portion of test accounts.

If you don’t already have it, you’ll have to wait for your profile to be added to the beta — or for the functionality to become stable. Hopefully, it won’t be long before it’s available on all smartphones.
