Android 14 Beta 3.1: What’s New, Eligible Devices, and Fix For Fingerprint Problems

A week ago, Google dropped Android 14 Beta 3 with the latest features and changes for you to try out with your apps. However, some users have complained about serious issues like a faulty fingerprint sensor after Beta 3. Hence, Google has started rolling out the Android 14 Beta 3.1 update for Pixel smartphones. This new version fixes the issue related to fingerprint unlock alongside the latest June 2023 security patch.

According to the information, the latest Android 14 Beta 3.1 update is now available on Pixel smartphones with firmware version UPB3.230519.014. Apart from this, it also installs the June 2023 security patch to deliver a secure UI Express. However, the minor update is only available to users participating in the Android Beta Program.

Android 14 beta 3.1 is a minor update that comes after the beta 3 rollout that started on June 7. According to the changelog, this update fixes issues where fingerprint unlocks were either unavailable or unusable on some Pixel devices.

This minor update to Android 14 Beta 3 includes the latest security patch level and the following fixes:

  • Fixed platform compatibility issues that were affecting mapping SDKs, which caused dependent apps to crash in some cases.

How To Update:

Since Android 14 is still in active development, Google will bring some improvements and fixes to roll out a stable update of Android 14 to all users; However, the beta version will be available only to users who have enrolled in the Android Beta Program. If you’re already enrolled in the Android beta for the Pixel program, you’ll be offered an over-the-air (OTA) update to beta 3.1.
