Well, a week after the release of Nova launcher version 8.0 beta and just a few days after Branch announced the acquisition, a new beta is already available: we are talking about version 8.0.2.
New Features:
In recent days it had already been anticipated that with version 8.0.2 beta the first Branch features would be introduced and more specifically that Nova Launcher’s search engine could benefit from that company’s device search technology.
According to the changelog, Branch’s search system uses an offline library identified as “io.branch.search” and does not access the Internet. As promised by the creator of Nova Launcher, the Branch search option is disabled by default when installing the latest beta version and users will have to enable it if they wish.
Branch combines all contact options, such as phone, WhatsApp, and SMS for each contact while Nova Launcher’s “traditional” solution shows separate results for WhatsApp.
Other new features in this update include resolving the widget scaling issue and some other minor bugs.

A confirmation of this is the release in recent hours of a new beta version of the application, Nova Launcher 8.0 Beta, which brings with it several interesting improvements.
Probably the most important feature is graphical: with this version of the launcher comes to support for Material You, with the consequent possibility of changing the colour of some of the interface elements based on the colouring of the home screen’s background.

At the moment, there is no information on when this new version of the popular Android launcher will switch from the beta channel to the stable one and probably a lot will depend on any bugs that will be encountered by users who decide to try this release.
