Google has constantly focused on improving the functionalities of its video calling application, Google Meet. A couple of days after releasing a new capability that significantly allows users to switch between their devices without leaving the ongoing Meet call, with that now, Google has further added new Hide tiles without videos option to layout within Google Meet.
Easily Hide non-video tiles with the “Hide tiles without videos” option in Meet
According to Google’s official blog, Google has added a new Hide tiles without videos option to layouts. This option will allow users to change their video screen layouts as desired, significantly avoiding messing up their screen if users only wish to see the participants with their videos.
This newly added option will eventually help reduce the messing up of your video screen, especially when many participants join a Meet call. It will also help focus on the participants who have kept their videos on. Meanwhile, the participants who have turned off their videos and speak will be significantly shown on the screen.
Changes will only be visible to your meeting screen; others will not be affected with it
It’s important to note that this feature, similar to the other layout options, will only remain specific to your meeting screen view. It will not affect what the other participants have set or see for their layouts during the ongoing meeting. Moreover, to hide the participants who have kept their videos off, head to Settings >> Change Layout >> Hide tiles without videos.
Meanwhile, Google has begun gradually rolling out this new feature, which will be available to all Google Workspace customers and users with personal Google Accounts.
