Android 14 is still in the development stage, while Apple showcased its latest iOS 17 for iPhone at WWDC 2023 with some incredible features. And Google must have taken some inspiration to make the everyday life of the users easier and more comfortable.
iOS 17 is currently in the hands of developers with some exciting changes and new features. However, the big software upgrade will add more grassroots benefits in the future, and those are some of the features Google will need to add to Android 14.
iOS 17 comes with new features to improve the things you do every day, express yourself like never before when you call or message someone, and share content in convenient new ways. In addition, it brings improvements to communication apps, simpler sharing with AirDrop, more intelligent text input, and a new experience with Journal and Standby.
These iOS 17 features Google must add to Android 14
Custom Contact Posters
iOS 17 brings many new features, including the Contact Posters feature, which offers a fresh approach to expressive communication. Although, we would like to see something similar on Android 14 by default on all Android devices. Contact Posters feature allows users to customize their appearance, give a completely new look to incoming calls, choose beautiful treatments for photos or Memoji, and have attractive typography and font colors.
Sensitive Content Warning
With iOS 17, Apple brings Sensitive Content Warning that blurs sensitive photos and videos before you can view them. This new element will be available in Messages, AirDrop, contact posters in the Phone app, FaceTime messages, and third-party apps.
And Android phone users would surely like to see such amazing iOS 17 Sensitive Content Warning features in their phones with the Android 14 upgrade.
StandBy mode
iOS 17‘s Standby Mode turns an iPhone into a digital table clock and shows important details like the time and notifications, and it also doubles as a digital photo album. A similar feature has been available on select Android phones for nearly a decade under the name Always-On Display. It would be nice if it comes in the upcoming Android 14.
Check-In
Messages get significant updates with iOS 17, including Check-In, when a user wants to notify a family member or friend that they’ve reached their destination safely. After a user initiates a Check-In, their friend or family member will automatically be notified when the user has arrived. Furthermore, it lets users share their route, location, battery status, call network status, last iPhone unlock location, Apple Watch removal location, and other data with a friend or family member.
Also, Android phone users would surely like to see such security-related messaging features of iOS 17 in their phones with the Android 14 upgrade. Although the feature is available for Android users through third-party apps like WhatsApp Live Location, it only shows the location in real-time.
NameDrop
NameDrop is another new feature of iOS 17, which allows users to easily share contact information by simply bringing their iPhones together or by bringing an iPhone and Apple Watch together. On the other hand, Google already has a near share in Android, but it is much slower than Apple’s NameDrop. Android 14 may add a feature like NameDrop, which will help users share anything faster with other Android users.
