If Google adds a lot of new features and facilities with new updates for an enhanced experience, then it also removes some inconveniences in the other way so that users do not have any problems. And this time, Google has decided to remove the Download bar at the bottom of Chrome.
Now Google has changed the Download bar management and renamed it as “Download tray”, previously from many years, the downloaded contents appeared in the bar at the bottom of Chrome, but now it will display at the top in the right corner beside the search box. According to the company, it will give more clarity to users.
Google stated that while talking to the users, three issues with the download bar got to know that were causing problems to them. In which the issues include; that it takes important pixels of the screen at the bottom, which eats up the web content area because the screen width got limited.
Also, after downloading the content, the bar didn’t disappear automatically; it only offered two options which were for pause and resumed as well. Also, the users complain that it is unable to give modern interaction. As a result of these issues, the company decided to change the desktop browser’s UI and offer a new download tray.
Now the users will get an animated ring to monitor the ongoing process of downloading and a tiny pop-up when the content completes, by which they can be disabled from Settings >> Downloads >> Show downloads after completing.
Clicking on it presents a list of all the download contents from the last 24 hours in any browser window except the one in which content has been downloaded. Plus, the buttons allow the users to open a folder in which the download file is present, with pause or resume, cancel & retry options available.
The plus point is that the users got the eligibility to transfer the downloaded contents to another folder or website. In this situation, Showing all download options at the bottom of the tray will occur with chrome://downloads.
Moreover, this new system for download tray will provide the facility of improving and batter malware or virus warnings. This new update for downloads is only available at the moment of time for Mac, Windows, Linux as well as ChromeOS. For the enhanced experience, the users must be sure their browser is updated.
On the other hand, Chrome’s search bar on Android and iOS will provide the users with suggestions related to the query they have searched for. And on the new tab page, it will show all the trending searches. Plus, Chrome will offer 10 suggestions to the users related to their query, previous it was only eligible to show up to 6 suggestions.
