Is the Galaxy A55 5G Waterproof?

When it comes to Samsung’s A portfolio, the first thing that strikes a customer’s mind is the budget-focused and mid-range categories. Samsung always tries to incorporate several eye-catching features in its Galaxy A series devices that significantly catch the customer’s attention. Similarly, the band has recently introduced another phone within its famous A series, the Samsung Galaxy A55, but despite all that, is the device waterproof?

Like several other brands, Samsung has already begun offering decent protection and durability against water and other solid components, which is impressive. Likewise, the newest Samsung Galaxy A55 5G does sport an IP67 rating, which means that the device is waterproof and not water resistant, as the brand claims that you can submerge the Galaxy A55 in up to 1 meter of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. But on what basis can it be said that the new Galaxy A55 is waterproof? Here’s the entire explanation.

Galaxy A55 5G: IP rating explained

An IP, or Ingress Protection Rating, is offered to a device when it’s being tested against two kinds of ingresses: solid and liquid ingress, respectively. Samsung has offered an IP67 rating to the Galaxy A55 device, where the first digit in an IP rating is 6, which is considered the highest amount of protection against solid ingress, which is fine dust and sand particles, making the device entirely dust resistant and easily capable of handling dust particles.

On the flip side, the second digit following an IP rating is 7, which highlights the protection against liquid ingress, which is water. So, the Galaxy A55 5G can easily handle submersion in up to 1 meter of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. Also, it’s highly recommended to take the device to poolside or near water bodies.
