Honor Android 14-Based MagicOS 8.0: Here’s the Release Schedule

  • Honor announced its latest MagicOS 8.0, based on the Android 14 update.
  • The update has arrived with a brand new feature named Magic Portal and more.
  • Here’s the eligible device list with the release schedule.

Honor is gearing up to upgrade all its eligible devices with the latest major MagicOS 8.0 update. After a long wait, Honor finally, at a dedicated event held in China, announced its latest MagicOS 8.0 based on the Android 14 update. The brand has delivered this update with a MagicLM on-device large language model along with 7 billion parameters. With this update, the brand will upgrade the overall system software.

Honor is also touting MagicOS 8.0’s intent-based user interface (IUI) that proactively suggests services and applications based on the usage patterns of the users. Since this is a major OS update, it’s pretty obvious that it brings bundles of new features, improvements, and changes.

The update has arrived with a brand new feature named Magic Portal that strongly matches Honor’s LLM and IUI to offer context-based application and service shortcut recommendations through a side swipe. The brand has also previewed an instance of dragging and dropping a booking reservation from the messages application to the maps application to get directions to the point.

Magic Portal supports multimodal input such as text and images and also tracks gestures and eye movement on supported Honor smartphones. Also,  users are getting the power to click and hold on images of clothes and then drag them over to the side to search within shopping applications.

Apart from all this, the company has also confirmed support for the 100 well-known applications in Chinese tech markets, but the exact details on how and if these features will be available to other regions widely have not come to light yet. With this MagicOS 8.0 based on Android 14 update, the brand is offering new customization options for the home screen, UI speed improvements, and many more.

The users will see a new shake-to-block ads feature to fend off annoying pop-ups and system-wide parallel spaces for displaying two instances of the same application.

Honor MagicOS 8.0 will launch on the flagship Honor Magic6 lineup that is on the way to the floor in China. Noticeably, the company has also shared an introductory MagicOS 8.0 public beta release schedule with the devices mentioned below and launch timeframes.
