Google has a vast range of products and services, and as a result, it has to make great efforts to ensure that they all meet the wants and needs of the users. Regarding reports like Messages, with the aggressive competition in the instant messaging space, the user interface is crucial to keeping people coming back. An update to Messages seems to suggest that Google may be developing tweaks for improving personalization.

A post on X, formerly Twitter, shared by @AssembleDebug, stated that

“Google Message is testing something with a chat background.”

By this statement, it is pretty clear that the brand ‘Google’ is working on something new by which the users will soon see new changes and improvements in the chat background. Jumping on the recent update of Google Message, which arrived a couple of weeks ago, brought this change, which feels like a wallpaper and changes colors according to the system but noticeably has enough darker colors.

The tipster also mentioned that.

“Recent update of Google Message (through flags) brought this change which feels like a wallpaper and changes colors according to the system (Material U) but has darker colors.”

Apart from this, the tipster has also identified the latest profile recognition feature. It seems to allow users to make their profile visible across the platform if they want. They can also upload profile pictures and change their name in messages.

“Profiles in Google Messages seem to be coming soon.”

The reports indicate that the Profile Sharing option is now called Profile Discovery. The settings are wrapped inside a web view where they can turn on/off profile discovery and change name and profile picture. It appears that Google clearly understands the value of maintaining a rewarding user experience. By continuing to evolve the UI of Messages, for instance, the brand is doing what it can to retain its users. In the end, this could be all it needs to keep up with the competition.
