OnePlus smartphones usually come with super fast wired charging capability, as it’s the most common functionality of most smartphones in recent times, adding an amazing experience of convenience in the regular usage of the device. In contrast, OnePlus has recently released its flagship foldable device, the OnePlus Open, which is its first premium foldable smartphone. It is packed with several interesting features. Despite being the newest flagship foldable model, the OnePlus Open lacks the most prominent feature, Wireless charging, and that’s very disappointing.
At times, when the smartphone is running out of battery and there’s an urgent need for a charger as well as a charging cable, the wireless charging facility comes in very handy. Just arrange your phone on a charging stand or pad, and the device’s battery will get charged in some time, no matter where you go, without even requiring a switch or cable. Although it’s very convenient, the latest foldable OnePlus Open doesn’t come with wireless charging ability.
The flagship foldable smartphone, the OnePlus Open, lacks the wireless charging ability, which is primarily offered by each of its competitors today. However, OnePlus is not a newbie within the wireless market as its OnePlus 9 Pro offers both 50W wireless charging along with 65W wired charging capability.
Therefore, the brand can’t use any excuse for offering both in a single device. In contrast, with the launch of the OnePlus 11, the brand claimed that “if the wired charging is fast enough, then the scenario for the user’s need for wireless charging is limited.”
Alternatively, the OnePlus Open doesn’t offer wireless charging capability, probably due to its physical state. The camera setup on the back is comparatively huge, and it might add a little distance between the wireless charging coil and the charger. In addition, it doesn’t seem like anyone will be bothered by the lack of wireless charging, as the camera features of the Open are great. Still, if there are any controversies in the future, then the brand can bring wireless charging support to its upcoming flagship devices and foldables.
