WhatsApp: Lets You Edit Messages Within Channels

WhatsApp has introduced Channel features worldwide, which serves as a one-way broadcasting tool, authorizing administrators to send multiple types of content, for instance, text messages, photos, videos, poll, and stickers. Now, to enhance the user’s experience, the company keeps on upgrading its facilities and functionalities so the users will get more power and capabilities. Now Meta is rolling out a new feature named ‘Edited’ to edit the channel’s updates (Messages). 

WhatsApp offers a new feature for channel owners or administrators by which they can edit their channel’s updates. The feature is named ‘edited,’ which is placed next to the timestamp, and this will appear to everyone viewing a channel. 

Since WhatsApp rolled out the Channel feature, there has been a lack of editing options, so the owners of the channel were not able to edit any updates within the channels. Now, they have the power to update, but the company is delivering this new power along with some limitations and restrictions. 

New ‘Edited’ Option Lets You Edit Channel’s Updates 

WhatsApp cover up the lack of an edit option for update within the channels by introducing a new option called ‘Edited’, but here’s the catch there are some condition which are as follows; 

  • The channels’ owners can only edit their updates or messages up to 30 days after uploading. Once the time limit is over, they can’t edit their messages. 
  • If the owners of channels edit any update, then their audience or followers will not get any notification that any new change has been made to any message. 
  • Also, they cannot edit pictures, videos, or any other types of media. 

How To Edit Channel Update 

The owners of channels can easily edit their updates by just following the steps mentioned here; 

  • Long press the update, which you need to edit. 
  • Tap on the three-dot menu. 
  • Tap on Edit and make changes. 
  • Once you are done, tap on the check mark.
