Google Knock Out Pixel 4a From The List Of Providing Software Support

Google, in 2020, introduced its Pixel 4a 4G model, which features a 5.81 inch OLED, HDR display, Snapdragon 730G, and 3140mAh battery, along with being powered by Android 10 out of the box. And it has touched the limit of receiving the latest software update, either major Android OS or Security patches. Due to this, it will no longer receive software updates.

With the introduction of its Pixel devices, Google already allotted time duration for providing major Android OS and monthly security updates, and it always follows those policies; according to the Pixel 4a device, it grabbed all the software updates for which it was eligible.

Hard to say! Google boycotted Pixel 4a to join the list of devices that are getting the September 2023 Android security update. According to the information mentioned in the company’s official software update page, it is confirmed that Pixel 4a lost its software support in August 2023.

The noticeable fact is that Google usually provides an extra update or two even after the device officially loses the software support. Still, unfortunately, the company has already rolled out its latest September 2023 software update for Pixel devices, for which Pixel 4a is not included. This is the actual indication that it will no longer grab any updates. It is not only about security patches but also major Android OS updates. Yes, you guessed it! Pixel 4a is also not eligible to receive Google’s Android 14 major update, which is this close to its stable release.

For clearer information, for users who are using Pixel 4a devices currently, Android 13 is the last major OS update. Ending the software journey doesn’t mean the end of a phone’s life, but yes, now it will no longer get any new features and improvements. So they can prefer new models for experiencing the latest features.

For clarification, we are talking about Pixel 4a devices only because the Pixel 4a 5G variant is still receiving software updates and will continue until at least November.
